Now this is a hoot!  On last night’s episode of CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman, they asked, “What would the Late Show look like if it were a daytime soap?”

And of course, what soap would they emulate with the most classic of openings?  The Young and the Restless, of course!

Watch this riff on the opening title sequence from the number one CBS soap opera “Letterman style” featuring the Late Show crew, Paul Shaffer, and a very special guest appearance by none other than Y&R’s Sean Carrigan (Stitch).

CBS Daytime Sr. VP Angelica McDaniel tweeted today, “@SeanCarrigan you were on @letterman last night! Soap Up: Dave’s opening credits inspired by @YandR_CBS

Now after the jump, watch Dave’s “Young and the Restless” Opening!  Then, let us know what you thought of the spoof?

Seems Letterman is trying to emulate Joel McHale and his program, “The Soup,” which follows several daytime soaps often (not to mention several telenovas)!

While Letterman has a short “Y&R”-like opening, McHale will actually show clips and have guest soap stars on The Soup. He’s a LOT more fun to watch!

I love Young & Restless, and thought Letterman’s take on the Y & R Opening was pretty darn good. I thought it was very funny!!!! Letterman should make an appearance on Y & R, maybe as Victor’s brother or somebody’s Uncle. What do other Y & R fans think??? LOL!!!

I think it was great. Can’t figure out how I missed it, as I am a regular Letterman watcher. I saw it on this site. Wouldn’t mind seeing him make a guest appearance on Y&R. I also am a loyal watcher of Y&R almost since the beginning of the show!

Well, this is the sincerest form of flattery by David Letterman and the good folks at his show to do this. Y&R deserved this!

I want to know why they showed Sean Carrington/Stitch along with the rest of the Late Show cast.
I thought, when I saw it, that maybe SC was going to be on the show and that was the point of the Y&R spoof, but he wasn’t.
