The highly-awaited and anticipated appearance on a special Downton Abbey send-up with the one and only George Clooney, finally aired in the U.K. over the weekend on December 19th, as part of the Text Santa holiday TV fundraising drive on ITV.
In the video which is in two parts below, Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) with the an assist from none other than Ab Fab‘s Patsy Stone, sees what life would be like at “Downton” if he were replaced by Clooney’s “George Oceans Gravity, Marquis of Hollywood” AKA ” Lord Hollywood”.
The entire segment is very “Scrooge” like in its narrative storytelling with the characters you love from upstairs and downstairs at “Downton” spoofing themselves. Even, creator Julian Fellowes gets in on the action! But perhaps, nothing is funnier than watching Dame Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess faint after her encounter with Lord Hollywood!
Watch the two-part video after the jump! Clooney appears at the end of part one, which also includes a special “Downton” visit from Jeremy Piven, and then in the second part, Clooney is in it throughout its entirety.
Let us know what was the funniest part to you of this Downton Abbey Spoof? And remember, fans of the series in the United States will begin to see the season five on Sunday, January 4th on Masterpiece on PBS at 9PMEST.
