This was posted on the December 2016 thread

ABC’s General Hospital, who has delivered some very emotional and compelling storylines in 2016, received the sole WGA (Writers Guild America) Award nomination for a daytime drama series on Monday, when the TV categories were announced.

Thus, GH will be the victor in the category as well when the awards are handed out in ceremonies on Sunday, February 19th in Los Angeles.

Last sentence, please take note. They only won because they were the only series nominated…..hahahahaha

I love the 1st sentence of this article

ABC’s General Hospital took home the Writers Guild Award for in the Daytime Drama category.

Of course they took it home, they were the only one nominated……..so funny to me. Cannot wait for Ron Carlivati to take Days to number one and show the fans how a soap should be written. GH has not had any good stories at all in the last year and a half. JMHO.

Ron couldn’t even get GH to break 3 million viewers on a regular basis when he was writing, and he’s gonna double DOOL’s viewership to overtake Y&R as the #1 soap? Lol, I’d like some of whatever you’re smoking!

@Scott – I read this somewhat differently. You say GH was the only series nominated. Very true. You could also say GH was considered to be the only soap worth nominating this year. What prevented the other four from being nominated by the WGA? Nothing really…except a year’s worth of work. 220+ episodes written by 3 other soaps, and none of them had work that attracted the WGA. GH should be proud, especially considering that Carlivati won the very same award the two consecutive years prior for his work on GH. If he thought it was an honor to receive it at the time, why shouldn’t anyone else?

What a sad joke! “Jelly” couldn’t write a coherent letter to Santa Claus. Although they’re not really writing the show, anyway. They’re just taking dictation from Valentini and Varni, GH’s true HWs. The show was a silly, unwatchable mess in 2016, a total waste of and insult to its stellar cast (they deserve so much better than this team of no-talents).

Got to say GH story-lines are getting better but I will be glad when the Nelle story-line is over since we learned her father was Carly’s adoptive father. I wish they could bring Morgan back, with another actor in that slot, cause Morgan had potentials. Lastly, we need to know what really happen to Charlotte’ “mother” Claudette, the actress is a powerful girl and can handle any lines thrown at her.
Congrats to GH’s writing team on their award. :)
