Tony Geary’s clip (while this has nothing to do with his acting ability) shows how ridiculous is it to believe this dissociative identity disorder storyline. It was 2 different people. But his acting was terrific. This can not be a different identity. That’s not how it would have gone down with an alternate personalty.

I forgot, we have no reason still to understand what Luke’s alter ego would have against Sonny. Nonsensicle. The acting is brilliant. But makes no sense that the Fluke is Luke.

    Jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

Does his alter really need a reason to hate Sonny…as Luke he had no reason to hate Sonny who is a friend but as the darker Fluke he hated everyone his good side Luke liked and cared for-his family, Tracy, and Sonny—thats his dark side thinking—when you have any sort of mental illness you dont think rationally…your thought are different and you dont act like you normally do…he had no reason to hate his family and Tracy but because of his mental condition as Fluke he simply thought he hated them…same for Sonny and everbody else he liked!!!

    AJQ replied

Yes, it was two separate people, Fluke was not Luke’s alter at the time that was shot. We know that now, we knew it then. The scenes were intended to clearly indicate that Fluke was a separate person. And TG did a masterful job in his portrayal, signaling to the audience exactly what he was supposed to convey, that Fluke was a different person; an imposter who assumed Luke’s identity.

Fluke physically left Port Charles that day. He obviously stopped off at Miscavige to pay a visit. And there he found Luke, drugged up. If it was all in his head, where did this confrontation take place? Did he actually, physically go to Miscavige to confront himself? Why would he have free reign of the place, to be able to use an empty room to do this? What would be Fluke’s/Luke’s relationship with Miscavige if it was all in his head? If he was a different person and assumed Luke’s identity, making a switch there a year ago, then he would have a relationship with the place. (Although that would be hard to explain. How would he have been involved with Heather and her kidnapping Luke? But of course that just shows there were still huge problems with the story the other way, if Fluke was Bill E or someone else).

So now, was all this in his head? Then where was he physically when this confrontation took place? Looking back, would the audience ever be able to look at this as playing out in his head, given how it was presented, shot, directed, written, acted?

Yes acted. Which goes back to TG. A masterful performance, he showed us two separate people, Luke and his double. Give him the Emmy.

It is not DID. The writer said it was a Psychotic Break!! TG was great !! I was GH but after watching ALL 4 clips I think Christian deserves the win!!

Lin, you are so right..Good acting but since the reveal that Luke is actually “Fluke” with a spit personality, this reel seems so outdated and pointless..Jason should win this year or Christian.

You bet, Lin. Geary’s acting was extraordinary. He did what he had to do….the end product, superb, considering I could not, for the life of me, put the puzzle together. I still can’t. As I have already stated, we all went on a scary, nonsensical (indeed, Lin, as you say) , stupid , long and most audacious ride ( actually an insult to our intellect) .
However, since it is the acting that’s in question and not the story, then TG should win.
I, personally, do not understand why J. Thompson was even nominated…HUH? I just don’t see it. He is as boring as Sam. They’re actually a good match. I see nothing special about his acting.
I love Billy Miller, but, he has yet to impress me as Jake….too sedate…..going overboard there, writers!!
    C. Leblanc is a class act. His struggles and fears are potently displayed. I just wish TPTB made him appear like a cancer patient….he looks toooo well to be sick when compared to , let’s say, Maura West.
So, if not Geary, then Leblanc should win.

(Full disclosure…I religiously watch General Hospital & Days of Our Lives.)

After viewing the reels submitted for Lead Actor, my predictions are:

Winner: Jason Thompson (Patrick, General Hospital)

JT cries more beautifully than any of the other actors on GH. That even includes Sonny and Michael Easton, whose had some good crying scenes with Maura West lately.

Anthony Geary for the win! No matter what you thing of GH, Geary, the Fluke storyline, or the price of tea in China, there is no denying that none of those other reels comes CLOSE to touching his reel. Give the man the award now!

All of the reels were very good but the range of emotion the highs and lows that Jason Thompson exhibited with the subtle yet forceful performance is what is going to bring the emmy to him this year. He and Kimberly play off of each other so well he is and always will be golden in my book and in my humble opinion was robbed of several emmys in past years, here is hoping the voters see past favoritism and present the award to a a truly deserving actor. Good Luck Jason!

I would not be disappointed if JT won, even if I think TG deserves it. TG is the Meryl Streep of daytime tv. He will never phone in a performance. It’s not in his nature. He will always give 110%, & his talent is so huge, just the fact that he’s won before is not a reason to omit him if his work is of such high caliber. But, JT has also been consistently excellent for the past 3 years.

With all due respect to the other actors in the category, and I’m a huge fan of Jason Thompson, and hope he gets the recognition he deserves one of these years, but this year, there’s Tony Geary and then there’s everyone else. Regardless of what you think of the Fluke storyline, this is about the acting, and his performance is far and above everyone else.

He’s gonna need a separate room in his home to display all of his Emmys, and #8 should be coming home this year.

Just when you think Geary can’t get better, he raises the bar another notch….and he’s all by himself! Do people know how hard it is to act opposite thin air? There is no one to make eye contact with, listen to, respond to. You have to do the dialogue beats in your head and make the few takes allowed count so it looks completely natural. It isn’t even an action scene with a green screen. It’s an intimate conversation. Brilliant stuff!

Best Actor Michael Muhney hands down and if anybody had any guts instead of bull he would have been nominated and won! He owned that episode Billy Miller waving a gun and grinding his teeth! Muhney owned that scene!

The actoes submitt themselves for pre nomination. This is the second year in a row MM CHOSE not to submit himself. Who therefore has no guts?

@ The Substitute – I don’t watch Y&R, but I did see see a few scenes between Michael Muhney and Billy Miller from January 2014, and boy would it be a race to the races IF Michael Muhney was able to submit his material along with Billy Miller. With only four slots, the missing name/slot is definitely Michael Muhney. If that were the case, the Lead Actor category would be on fire!

After what (seven?!) wins in the catagory, it’s time Geary spread the wealth and withdraw himself from competition (or at the very least, not submit every damn year!) Sure, Geary has AMAZING talent … but Oprah also had an amazing formula with her talk show (as does Ellen) … but after being blessed with a boatload of Emmys, they withdrew from consideration and let others have their day-in-the-sun. (Who would’ve wanted to see her win 25 yrs in a row?!) The same is now happening with Geary; let other equally-deserving actors get a chance … my pick, make it a four-peat for Miller, who is amazing as GH’s Jason, but really OWNED Y&R’s Billy (the role he’s nommed for!)

Tony doesn’t submit his name every year. He didn’t submit it in 2010, 2011, 2013 or 2014. He last won in 2012, which he more than deserved for the storyline where he killed Jake, and the heartbreaking scenes were Lucky confronted him about it, and they did the intervention on him.

So other actors have had plenty of opportunities to win during those years.

This isn’t an Oprah situation where she won every year for 5 years straight at one point. Tony isn’t one of those glory hounds that submits his name every year whether he’s done Emmy quality work or not. And to me, if an actor or actress does award worthy work, which he most definitely has on GH over the past year, then it doesn’t matter if they’ve won zero Emmys or 20 Emmys, quality work deserves to be recognized.

Tony is mega talented and he did so well with those scenes. Which by the way I did not like. He was incredible. However so was Jason and I hope that Jason will win. I know Tony will… but I hope Jason does!

Agree that Michael Muhney was incredible in those scenes and wish he could have gotten some recognition for his phenomenal talent!

I am a diehard GH fan but follow Y&R to a certain extent. Tony Geary was exceptional as was Jason Thompson and we all know Billy Miller is great. But Christian LeBlanc reel is the video that brought me to tears. Very well done and on point with what’s real in life.
