In a hilarious video from Shenaz Treasury (Rama Patel) of One Life to Live, Shenaz goes to various One Life cast mates and asks them to their best impersonation of Rama Patel’s Indian accent! And the results? Well, for some they are less than stellar, but their attempts are admirable! And some are pretty damn close, or are they?

Watch as Josh Kelly (Cutter, who sounds more like a mix of Kermit the Frog and Rama Patel), Tuc Watkins (David), Andrew Trischitta (Jack), Kassie DePaiva (Blair) and Robert S. Woods (Bo) do the “Rama Patel”!

Now after the jump, watch the Rama contest and let us know who you think gets first place in their performance of Rama Patel’s accent?

I agree, DC. These little glimpses they’re giving us of life behind the cameras is really interesting and makes me feel a little it closer to these actors as people.

Tuc did a great job. If ever there is a story line of David getting lost in India, he’s ready.

So glad the Patels are back on tha canvas. Agnes Nixon wanted Llanview to be multi-cultural. This insures the tradition continues!

Hope the show is as good and a fun as some of its publicity gimmicks…OLTL could even do better here than when it was on the network. However there are some OLTL fans who cant afford cable or internet who still only recieve just the three networks, so they wont be able to watch. Even if online viewing is the future and network television becomes a thing of the past there are many who cant afford the new way of watching these shows. When tv came in as the new way of entertainment in the 1950s and radio shows became a thing of the past, the economy and job climate was so much better than today! My parents didnt have a tv in those early years but they would go over to my mothers parents to watch until they could afford one of their own. But thats not so easy today: not everyone can go over to a realitives to watch on their laptop or computer, unless the latter is connected to a large tv screen, and some may never be able to get internet to watch online shows because even if hulu is free those people still would have to pay for internet services and simply cant afford the extra bills, especially since internet rates can also go up. Thats why i hope regular network tv which you can still recieve for free without cable, sticks around for those who simply cant afford a computer or laptop, and the internet. Im certain some however can go to the library and use their computers but time there is limited, and that would be a pain in the ass to do all the time for some, especially the elderly, the disabled, and those without transportation. We do need to keep the three networks around for these people as long as we can!

So I guess I’m the only one who finds her voice annoying, minus the accent. It’s too high pitched and she comes across as a ding bat, (Archie, Archie)!

I kinda blame the director for that…i like daytime showing an Indian American family for a change!

Some members of oltl cast are obviously close knit enough to joke abt an Indian accent w/ shenaz. But I don’t think other racial minorities would be comfortable w/ this. I’d rather not watch this video bec I think it would make me cringe. There are enough hollywood films and tv shows w/c already use this kind of humor. Would oltl cast be comfortable if they were asked to joke abt a stereotypical way a gay guy would talk? That would be highly doubtful given how it would be thought of as mocking gay people. glaad and entertainment press scream homophobia when there’s any unflattering portrayal of gay people.

There are obviously very few Asian american actors on tv shows as secondary chars. Isn’t “mindy project” w/ oltl alum the only tv show from hollywood w/ an Asian american leading char? This soap obviously needs press. But was joking abt an Indian accent really necessary given the lack of Asian american chars from majority of hollywood films and tv shows? Would hollywood alienate its lgbt audience? Of course hollywood would not. Yet lgbt only comprise 1.7% of american population according to openly gay activist gary gates. While Pew research has reported that Asian americans are 6% of american population. Pew research reported that Indian americans and Filipino americans are the wealthiest. Everyone has their opinions on political correctness. Some people think lowbrow humor of replicating an Indian accent is amusing. While others have higher standards for humor. But it isn’t good business for a relaunching soap opera to potentially alienate an entire racial minority demographic who has the buying potential of 1.1 trillion dollars. A lot of Asian american chars get whitewashed by hollywood. Many hollywood films and tv shows have cast white actors for Asian american chars. hollywood already lacks representation from Asian american chars. Joking abt Indian accents isn’t good business. I’m not going to debate abt this topic if anyone replies bec no one would debate this topic if the Indian accent was replaced w/ a gay stereotype.

Do you just push a repeat button everytime you post? If Shenaz isnt offended why should anyone else be? It wouldnt offend me or my gay relative if someone joked about them because they have a sense of humor which you obviously lack…dont watch at all if it bothers you so much! Maybe if you pulled out that asian you seem to have stuck up your donkey hole you might finally develop a sense of humor too!

I still think i prefer Rama at the bar and not Jcow…she was a money hungry schemer and couldve had many opportunities to be the next Karen Woleck with some of Shelters many wealthy gentlemen customers!
Cutter did a good Kermit. I still dont understand why Blair would hire Cutter after what he and Aubrey plotted against Blairs cousin Kelly and Joey Buchanan, or is this plotline just totally 4gotten?
