37 August 17th, 2011 Why are co-hosts, Osbourne, Ramini and Peete fleeing “The Talk”?

Problems abound for The Talk, the afternoon ladies gabfest that was the designated replacement for the beloved As the World Turns. As it is set to go into production for season two at the beginning of September, it looks like many of the gals are fleeing the series, and some putting the blame squarely on host and anchor, Julie Chen!

Sharon Osbourne had already announced she was taking a break from the afternoon panel, and Holly Robinson Peete announced last week, she would not be returning.  And now according to the New York Post, their sources are telling them that Leah Ramini is so fed up she is about to walk!  So does this have to do with Julie Chen?

NY Post reports, “Julie Chen’s “queen bee attitude” is forcing the ladies of CBS’s The Talk to flee the daytime gab-fest after just one season.  The last straw for Osbourne and Remini was Chen’s order, passed down from her master-of- the-universe husband,CBS president Les Moonves following their South of France break, that the women were not allowed to discuss the Casey Anthony case without her because she’s the only host with journalistic credentials.

“[Julie] said, ‘My husband feels strongly that you should not be talking about news [without me], you are not news people,’ ” our source told us. “Sharon just said, ‘I don’t know about this.’ She’d had enough. ”Despite the friction, one program insider called Chen “the glue that holds the show together” and firmly placed the blame on Remini. “[Remini] was a disruptive force,” the source said. “She had a huge morale problem,” adding that Remini often brought her mother on set, who refused to follow studio rules. “Her mother never parked in her assigned space,” the insider said. “She was told not to park in the lot anymore. ”

Also of note:  two executive producers have quit the series since last fall, and the show is just a year old!

Just a heads up, Leah Remini’s name is misspelled in the title and in the 2nd paragraph in the body of the article.

    Chen seems like a diva.

“The Talk” has sucked since Day 1 and will continue to suck until its inevitable demise, which IMO, should come mid-season.

Are we surprised? (The answer: No!) We knew THE TALK did not have “the walk” when it was announced. And for this pale imitation of THE VIEW — lightning rarely strikes twice — we lost AS THE WORLD TURNS?!?!? I am still sick over it! I hope ABC and their teams for THE CHEW (Ew!) and THE REVOLUTION (Is that the other gabfest Brian Frons claims we are dying to see every afternoon?) are paying attention to this CBS misfire. The broadcast webs want to keep us tuned into their fare but when it comes to daytime (and even Friday and Saturday nights), no one seems to get it right, to give the audience what it wants, or even try.

Totally agree….ABC needs to take notice to this. The Chew will end as quickly as it begins. Can’t wait to see how low the ratings are.

I’m still sick over it too! It was one of about three shows I could stand to watch. TV is so lame now.

Well Chen is boring and rather common looking and i just really can’t stand her..I’m sure if she wasn’t married to the cbs president she wouldn’t be where she is. Without Sharon no one will tune in i don’t think.

Karma baby….ATWT silent revenge. I will never watch no show replacing a soap. First my beloved GL then ATWT and both shows aren’t tearing the ratings up because loyalty for networks have been destroyed at their own hands. Fans are sick & tired of telling people what to watch instead of actually fixing the problem. I have recently turned off Y&R and that was my last connection to CBS daytime because of the hack job MAB is doing to Y&R.

This is not at all surprising. I refuse to watch The Talk. I didn’t watch ATWT, but I did watch GL. I will also refuse to watch the AMC & OLTL ‘replacements’ when they come. I will definitely been watching AMC & OLTL when it moves online.

This was the last straw. Well, what was the first straw? Details please.

The other four hosts knew what they were getting into when they signed onto the show. They knew it was just a matter of time before he got involved.

Aside from pointing fingers, it’s understandable to have someone with journalism credentials. But the same can be said about Chen. She shouldn’t be allowed to talk about psychology because Osbourne is the only host with psychology credentials. Let’s see how much she likes that.

This is ego, stupidity, or both. The Talk is not Meet the Press or This Week. The Talk is host discussion (gossip) of public events. To insist Chen must be present for discussion of certain topics because of journalistic ethics literally contradicts the premise of the show and gags the other hosts to the point that no one could say anything in her absence. Absurd. The show is a piece of garbage anyway, and deserves to crash and burn. Anyone who walks away looks better than those who stay under these conditions. And you can’t get more petty than complaining about where someone’s elderly mother parks her car. Pathetic.

Leah is my favorite. I like Hollly too, and I think they are both strong hosts. Sara Gilbert is so boring, and now I can’t look at Julie Chen (Divas turn me OFF big time) the same now. I watch this show a lot, but I won’t be in September!

I tuned in once…..as I was an ATWT fan. The hosts seemed uncomfortable and very forced. Leah seemed drunk or high. I’m glad it is failing. No-one will want to watch next season. I thought Sharon was the only draw. I hope the Chew is an even worse failure. I liked Carla from Top Chef and Clinton from What Not To Wear…..but now they are in the enemy camp. The show looks terrible. 25% of American children are living in poverty according to last figures. Many go to bed hungry. 4 people sitting around table talking about new healthy recipes seems so unimportant, not entertaining, and socially irresponsible. I can’t pay my bills….the last thing I am concerned about is how to make my own salad dressing.
