Two big questions will be answered shortly for fans and peers of two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner and star of television, film, and stage, Judith Light! First tonight, Judith is nominated for her first Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her star-turn in Lombardi. And second, what has been continually on the mind of soap fans is… will Judith return to One Life to Live where she played Karen Wolek, the hooker with a heart of gold, before we have to say goodbye to the series come January 2012.
At last night’s Tony Award cocktail reception in New York, Judith spoke briefly with Showbiz 411 about her chances on picking up her first Tony tonight (on CBS live 8PMEST) in a category that also features Ellen Barkin’s performance for The Normal Heart. Judith responded that she does not think she will win, “but it’s nice to be included.”
And what, if anything is going on with a return to OLTL? Judith remarked, “Let’s get through [Sunday] night first.” But according to Showbiz 411 Judith really knows it. “If the show’s fans could be polled, Judith Light is the one actor they’d want to see return, even if briefly, for a big finale.”
One interesting note is that according to the item, Judith has not heard from OLTL with an offer to return before the show goes off the air. On-Air On-Soaps partly assumes that is because the show still has more time on the air to wrap-up and currently is knee-deep in major story; as opposed to AMC which is bringing back major fan favorite returns since they exit the soap scene several months prior to One Life.
Stay tuned! And good-luck to Judith at the Tonys!
