During the new On-Air On-Soaps Daytime Emmy nominee podcast, Doug Davidson (Paul Williams, Y&R) discussed his thoughts on glaring Emmy nominee omissions from his cast mates at The Young and the Restless, namely, Stacy Haiduk (Patty/Emily) being shut out in the Supporting Actress category.
Davidson stated, “I was completely surprised that Stacy Haiduk didn’t get a nomination considering the day in and day out of her performance. I told her personally, just considering the economic changes we have made, the ability to work with someone like that brought so much of the fun back into the work for me. Stacy brought so much excitement, and she plays every single moment. All you do is hold on to her lapels, and see where the scene goes, which is terrifically fun. So, I can’t even speculate why she didn’t get a nomination, unless she picked a show that did not work for the judges. I mean, how else do you explain it? Kudos to the writing staff that they brought a character (Patty) out of the history of the show, and once it happened I could not have been more thrilled to be a part of it. It made it challenging for me as Paul, and exciting for me as an actor.”
So what else did Doug have to say about his Lead Actor nomination? Find out, and make sure to hear what with his fellow nominees, Michael Park, Jonathan Jackson, Sarah Brown, Ricky Paull Goldin, and Bradford Anderson had to say about their nods as we begin the countdown to the Daytime Emmys on June 27th, with the Emmy Nomination Podcast.
