The televised main event of the 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards were handed out tonight live on ceremonies on TV One! However, last night many of the categories were announced at a dinner ceremony in the categories of motion pictures, television, literature, recording, documentary, writing, and directing.
In the Daytime Drama acting categories, it was a big night for CBS’ The Young and the Restless! Kristoff St. John won his tenth NAACP Image Award for the Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama for his role as Neil Winters.
Today, St. John posted on his Twitter account and facebook page, the following message: “Image Award win 2014!! Número Diez Mi Amigos! Thanks to everyone for supporting all these years. I share this award with friends, family and friends, but, Ima keep it at my house. Thanks again for your generous comments that uplift my days and make me feel like my efforts are worthwhile.”
For the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, Tatyana Ali won her fourth NAACP Image Award in a row for her role as Roxanne on Y&R! Tatyana bested cast mates Christel Khalil, Angell Conwell and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Karla Mosley and Kristolyn Lloyd for the prize!
During tonight’s broadcast: Lupita Nyong’o took home the first honor of the telecast for her supporting actress work in 12 Years a Slave, and Steve McQueen won top directing honors, the movie also named Outstanding Motion Picture. Kerry Washington won for Outstanding Actress in A Drama Series for her role in Scandal, which also took home the Outstanding Drama Series honors! For the entire list of tonight’s winners click here!
