Three-time Daytime Emmy winner, and a nominee again this year for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) of The Young and the Restless spoke with Time.com about his 19th nomination, the latest developments in the rise and fall and rise of the soap opera genre, and more.
Bergman played Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children in the 80′s where he became a household name, and so he is rooting for Prospect Park’s revivals of the series relating, “You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in daytime television who isn’t cheering them on. I hope it is a massive success and I’m one person who’s going to buy Hulu Plus and check it out.”
Bergman also touted the return of the soap genre noting the new online versions of AMC and OLTL have launched at good time, “The state of the soap opera is actually healthier than it was a year ago. his may be the perfect time for All My Children and One Life to Live to launch online. And I’d love to see it be a giant success and for ABC to be really embarrassed by it all.”
