48 April 27th, 2014 Y&R’s Sharon Case, Eric Braeden, Joshua Morrow, Camryn Grimes Deliver Power Performances Of The Week!

Courtesy/CBS

This past week it was The Young and the Restless who moved its best story along with the reveal that Sharon has not been seeing visions of  her deceased daughter Cassie, but in fact has been duped by an imposter at the hands of Victor Newman!

And that set in motion some powerful work by the foursome involved in this storyline from the CBS soap opera! In key scenes where Nick has brought the Cassie lookalike to Sharon (after he cornered her when he caught the dead-ringer for Cassie peering through the window at Abby and Tyler’s soiree and confronted her privately), the emotional fallout provided the impetus for some great work, especially from Sharon Case (Sharon).

Imagine playing the heartbreak of seeing someone that looks like the daughter who you lost years ago, and realizing you were not seeing things, but were being set-up?  And then there was Eric Braeden as Victor Newman!  Despite being painted into a corner by son Nick, who really let dear old dad have it for gaslighting Sharon just like Adam did to Ashley, Victor let Nick know that no matter what … Sharon will hurt him! Sharon has a big secret!

Nick (Joshua Morrow) tells his father he wants nothing more to do with him.  Later, alone in a somber and touching moment, Victor recalls happier times with his son through use of a flashback, about providing to his family all the things that Victor never had growing up.  We felt the anguish from both sides of the Newman men, played by Braeden and Morrow.

As for Camryn Grimes (Faux Cassie), she is so intriguing to watch!  You saw the Cassie imposter’s sympathy towards Sharon, her feeling of guilt for what she had done, and yet she is still caught up in some plot. What is driving this girl? What is her secret?  Who is she?  First, we knew she was working with Victor, but then with who else?  Who was on the other end of the call she made on Wednesday’s episode?  Look for more fireworks on Monday when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) finds out Victor’s plot against Sharon via Nick!

So for their work this past week, On-Air On-Soaps names The Young and the Restless Sharon Case, Eric Braeden, Joshua Morrow, and Camryn Grimes the Power Performances of the Week!  Now let us know, what did you think of their mighty performances?

Their performances were brilliant! Loved what they brought to those scenes. Has their been any word on who will take over the role of Adam? I was checking blogs and saw that some people suggested Trevor St. John and Trent Dawson for the part. I think Trent would be awesome!! Hope to see Mr. Dawson on Y&R soon! (no disrepect to Trevor–just prefer Trent!) GO TRENT!

They should have sub-titles on the screen when Eric Braeden speaks. I can’t understand what the heck he’s saying with all of that mumbling. It’s gotten worse as he’s become elderly.

He’s Victor! That’s what he does. He mumbles and then says “Now get the hell outa hea!!!! Uhkay?” I think we’d all be furious if he did something out of character, but from what I’ve read, Eric Braeden won’t let that happen.

Wonderful performance by Sharon Case watching her touching fake Cassie and touching her hair broke my heart knowing all she wanted to do was hold her and never let her go. I give credit when soaps do something right and this storyline has really been good. Now about that pesky paternity result switch write us out of that one. Lol!!!

She is going to be Mariah, Tyler’s girlfriend I believe. That’s why she was watching the party. This was some brilliant acting this week, a very DEEP story for sure!

Wow! That would be something…and tie two new characters (so we think) into one…the canvas is pretty crowded. And, complex story telling. Love this idea.

  9. Elizabeth says:

I can’t begin to describe how absolutely wonderful all the actors were in this storyline. It was SC & JM that impressed me most. They are unstoppable when paired together, I use to hate them, now I am falling in love with them for the first time. CG needs to be put on contract, never should’ve killed Cassie off anyway, she’s a bright spot amongst the less interesting younger set.

Elizabeth…WELL SAID…I AGREE!!!!! Also, I think that the Cassie look-a-alike is WAY MORE WATCHABLE than NuAbby, NuNoah, Avery, Cane, Courtney, Devon, Dylan, Lily, Recast Billy (aka David Tom) and Tyler. And, besides…as an actress, Camryn Grimes TRULY ROCKS!!!!!

Agree, I find it funny fans can see the new and recast don’t work out, why can’t the producers see the same thing?? The people U mentioned are just horrible to watch..

    jaybird369 replied

Sue…YES…AGREED!!!!! And, also…in this instance, the word horrible is truly an understatement…LOL!!!!! Yep.

For the Y&R is was good..
Much better than the usual huumdrum daily snore..
The performances were the best in a very long time bravo..
However; they were not ”powerful” .. just good ..

I have to agree with you. All the actors did a very fine job; but, I didn’t feel it was as “powerful” a reaction as the situation warranted. Nick was furious with Daddy Dearest but in a very controlled and subtle way. I also expected more of a reaction from Sharon after she got over the shock of learning everything she’s been through was because of that hateful SOB. If I learned that my father used the most painful and tragic event of my life to manipulate me and people I love, I would go absolutely ballistic. Hopefully, there will be more repercussions next week.

I was also surprised that after the big confrontation on Monday and Tuesday, the rest of the week was devoted to secondary story lines.

I felt no ”power” just relief that it was finally over .. lol
As far as drama went it was lackluster, but Y&R is not known for high gripping drama it is a bland soap with extremely long stories so ya it was good, very good that something actually happened, but nothing powerful, but good!
The acting was not over the top, it was normal..
It was just that nothing happened for for long that is was exciting.. lol

    Llanviewer717 replied

Thank you su0000. I keep waiting and hoping for gripping drama, suspense, excitement, passion, and am always disappointed. Now I know why.

I enjoyed every minute of this story. Sharon, Joshua & Camryn were outstanding. Victor , in my opinion, always plays pretty much the same. I also have trouble understanding him a lot of the time. I really enjoy Sharon & Nick together. Hope they stay together for a long time & the writers find a way to straighten out the paternity story without breaking them up. Yes I believe their performances were “powerful”.

Really fantastic all around. I love how “Cassie” holds her own with these 3 excellent actors. I also think “Cassie” is really Mariah. We saw someone lurking outside the window during Abby and Tyler’s party. I thought to myself this would be the day we finally see Mariah. When Nick saw “Cassie” my first assumption was this was ALSO Mariah–genius twist. Later in her hotel room, when asked why “Cassie” came to GC, she said “I didn’t come here for Sharon.” And when “Cassie” made the call saying “I’m in trouble, I need your help.” My money is on that calling being to Tyler.

This is true soap with awesome performances. Especially Case. And the character of Victor always talks like that. It’s his character.

I’ll take this over tacky sex in a crypt any day. Writing for shock value has no place on my Daytime TV.

Great performances undercut by the usual less than stellar writing.

It made absolutely no sense for Nick to present the Cassie lookalike to Sharon without even a warning that she was about to see the dead daughter that caused her to undergo ECT a few weeks ago. And as if that wasn’t enough, he follows that revelation up by having his father come over so he can accuse him of gas-lighting Sharon and engaging in an argument with him while Sharon just sat there in her party dress trying to sort the whole mess out.

(And am I the only one questioning the sanity of Nick for hooking up with Sharon again after she slept with him, his stepfather, and his future brother-in-law and then didn’t know who put a baby in her…?)

Now this was a week to talk about WOW!! What acting Cassie was the best by far for gosh sake Y& R don’t screw this up give Cassie a contract. Sharon & Nick we’re great. I was so happy to see Nick tell Victor off for this and Nikki’s reaction was priceless. I hope she reaches out to Sharon instead of the usual fighting & jealousy routine. If only we could get the real Billy (Billy Miller) back for Victoria if not then let her go with Ben. All round it was a great week. I also like Noah & Courtney, & less Lily with her attitude.

LOL Victor reminds me of a petulant child tho and I expected him to stamp his foot when he mentioned Sharon having a secret.
