One Life to Live’s Tuc Watkins (David Vickers) sits down with One Life’s head writer, Ron Carlivati, and Michael Fairman from the show’s new studios in New York. In part one of this two part interview, Tuc and Ron discuss the symbiotic relationship between actor and writer, that makes David Vickers the most fun and fascinating character on daytime. Tuc also reveals what went on behind the scenes of David becoming a Buchanan, and the duo preview coming story, and working with Amanda Setton (Ex-Kim).

Is it common for soaps to be that precise w/ naming a char, where the name of the char’s love interest has to be taken into consideration? Dorian and David vs. Dorian and Cliff. I can understand how that’d be the case now, w/ the media being big on mush names. People think bennifer began it when soaps actually did.

Thank you for this insightful interview. I would like to voice my opinion as a longtime fan and former David and Dorian fan and state that I in no way want the romance of David and Dorian readdressed by OLTL as you stated in the interview Mr. Carlivati is what fans want. I would like to respectfully state for the record and with no offense to Mr. Watkins that I am tired of this romance, especially since Mr. Watkins is committed to DH and Dorian fans have not had a romance for her character. I am not hoping, longing or any such words for reunion someday or anyday for these characters. Mr. Carlivati, please allow Dorian Lord to have a romance, much like so many fans enjoyed with Ray Montez, played by A Martinez. I would also take offense to OLTL writing any type of romance between David and any member of Dorian’s family. I would be turned off by that as a viewer. Still, all the best to Mr. Watkins with his career endeavors. I am writing with all honesty on what OLTL can do right for me as a viewer
