Will opens up to Marlena about seeing his mom having sex with EJ. He doesn’t think he can ever forgive her for being so selfish. If Rafe ever finds out, it will tear their family apart. A stunned Marlena absorbs this information, understanding what Sami did all too well. Will says he doesn’t know what to do – he’s so angry at his mother but he doesn’t want to hurt Rafe. Marlena advises her grandson to talk to his mom and tell her what he knows. Only then will they be able to repair their relationship. Will doesn’t think that’s possible. He goes home and makes an attempt to talk to Sami, but she’s in a rush to get back to work and leaves before realizing he wants to talk. Will is put off and he calls Marlena to tell her he doesn’t think it will work out between him and his mom. Marlena worries for Will and Sami, feeling partly to blame because of her own past indiscretion.

Sami shows up for her first day of work at Countess Wilhelmina, and she’s stunned when Kate wants her to share inside info on Mad World. Sami balks, but Kate warns she’ll fire her if she doesn’t comply. Sami feels stupid for thinking Kate actually thought she was a good executive. Kate insists she does think Sami is a smart exec – but right now Sami is most useful if she spills about Madison’s plans. Sami finally caves and tells Kate about a top secret product line that Madison is about to launch for bold young women. Kate pounces on this, wanting to beat Madison to the punch. Sami provides research documents, and Kate thinks they are going to make a great team.

Madison is frustrated that Sami’s defection is causing her to fall behind in work. She tells Brady she’ll have to push back a promotional tour for the men’s line. Brady says she can’t – it will affect other divisions at Titan. Madison claims it will be impossible for her to stay on schedule – she wants to concentrate on her top secret line. They argue and it gets personal. They finally calm down and work out a compromise, making clear they never want their professional relationship to affect their personal one.

Abe, Lexie and Jennifer meet with EJ and Nicole to discuss the upcoming mayoral debates. The women begin to argue as Abe and EJ move off. The two men bond over what it’s like to be a candidate, and thinking they are saving the day, they tell the women exactly how they want things to work. The women inform them that they already hammered out a similar plan – they just work in a different way. Later, Nicole tells EJ she plans to get the questions from the moderator in advance of the debate. Meanwhile, Jennifer tells Abe and Lexie she knows exactly what Nicole will try to pull — but she’ll stop her.

Marlena conducts a therapy session with Bo and Hope. The couple feels there are splinters and cracks in their relationship that go all the way back to when Zack was killed. In order to move forward, they must deal with this before they’re tested again – like when they were separated and Carly came to town. As Marlena works with them, Hope recounts the night she lost Zack and how Bo kept the truth from her about Chelsea’s role in his death. Bo knows not telling Hope the truth hurt their relationship, but he wants to get past it. Hope does, too, but her trust issues are just as bad as his wanting to sweep everything under the rug. Both know they can no longer do this or they’ll be back in the same situation. Marlena thinks Bo and Hope have made a good first step to finding the source of their trouble and urges them to keep working. Austin helps Carrie and Rafe move into their new office, but when he makes a joke about their clients – or lack of them – it falls flat. Austin apologizes to Carrie, and Rafe escorts their first client in. When they understand what their client is asking them to do, they realize beggars can’t be choosers.

Sonny senses something is up with Will. Will admits he’s having a rough time and asks if Sonny has ever wanted to run away. Sonny admits he has, but it was due to his sexuality. He keenly urges Will to get comfortable with himself. When Sonny realizes Will is in a bigger funk than he thought, he slightly alters his earlier advice and suggests he consider leaving Salem to really find himself.

Abigail sees Chad and Melanie in a close moment and flips out, saying it’s clear the two of them must have been carrying on behind her back while she was still with Chad. Melanie and Chad deny, but Abigail won’t hear it. Abigail goes to Austin and confides that she and Chad broke up. Austin encourages her to go after the man she loves (not realizing she’s in love with him), while Chad begs Melanie to stand her ground and stick it out with him. Melanie thinks they should start over as friends no matter how hard that might actually be. Jack and Jennifer talk about their impending trip to Hawaii. It sparks some frustration in Jack, who clearly hopes they can take things to a higher level now that Daniel is, in effect, out of the picture. Jennifer reacts to the pressure she feels and tells Jack she’s not ready for anything but a one-day-at-a-time relationship with him. Jack knows that’s because she’s still harboring feelings for Daniel, but doesn’t press further. They’re both unaware that Daniel is across town, getting devastating news that his hand tremors are incurable … which means his life as a surgeon is over. Maggie and Lexie try to comfort him but Daniel says he needs to be alone. He leaves, and runs into Jennifer. She can tell immediately something is wrong and he finally confesses he’s received a devastating diagnosis. She tries to comfort him and given their recent estrangement he resists at first, but he finally gives in, taking comfort in her arms. That’s when Jack arrives at the town square and sees their continued closeness. Brady comes to John and hears of his plans to resurrect Basic Black and rebuild it from scratch. When Brady hears John talk passionately about his plans, he makes a surprising proposal: he’ll leave Titan, and become John’s partner. This is music to John’s ears but he puts on the brakes. He knows Brady’s offer is an impulsive one, an emotional one – not one based in reality. John sends him to talk to Madison and really think about what it would mean to come on board … and if he’s still interested, then John would like nothing more than to call his son “partner.”

Melanie and Chad are trying to keep their promise to stay friends for now, so as not to make Abigail feel any worse about the breakup and what she saw between them. That doesn’t mean Chad can keep his distance, however, and he comes to see Melanie at the spa and gets an accidental kick in the head for his trouble. Gabi learns Chad and Abigail broke up and she can hardly hide her interest. Gabi asks Melanie if she thinks Abigail would mind if she asked Chad out on a date. Melanie bites her tongue. Meanwhile, Quinn is starting to show interest in Melanie, and Chad sees it. It’s clear they’re not going to have an easy time of keeping their distance after all.  Will is feeling tremendous pressure, both from the secret he knows about Sami and EJ and questions about himself and who he is. He bristles as he observes the way Rafe selflessly pitches in around the house, picking up the slack as Sami learns the ropes at her new job. When Sami comes home, he can’t bring himself to stick around and makes an excuse to go. He winds up at Marlena’s, but he’s unable to open up about what is eating him. Marlena tries to help but knows he’s keeping a lot bottled up inside. He leaves Marlena’s, too, talking about needing a fresh start somewhere. At the town square, he sees a poster advertising EJ’s campaign … and he gets an idea. He goes to the DiMera home and demands money from EJ so he can leave Salem. EJ doesn’t know why he should help Will. Will says, if he doesn’t, he’ll reveal a secret he knows EJ wants to keep hidden.

Rafe is concerned about Will, having witnessed his continued anger toward Sami, but he puts aside those concerns for the time being and shares a romantic night with his wife. EJ is trying to get his campaign back on track following John’s exoneration of all the fraud and embezzlement charges. Stefano is sympathetic – but guilty too, since he was the one who directed Bo and Hope to the clues they needed to clear John. He comes close to confessing this to EJ but pulls back for the time being. It weighs on him, however, and he later comes just short of confiding the truth in Kate. When he encounters John and Marlena later on, he tells Kate he believes John is still formidable and will undoubtedly rise again.

John spends the day plotting his rise and his plans to revive Basic Black. He tells Marlena of Brady’s offer to leave Titan and partner up with him to make the company a force again. The question of whether Brady will actually come on board is up in the air – and in opposing scenes, Brady hashes out that very question with Madison. She confesses she doesn’t want to see him leave Titan, but understands the emotion driving his desire to partner up with his father and accomplish something meaningful with him, side-by-side. She tells him he should do it. Later, Brady calls John … and says they should meet.
