0 DAYS Recap – July 4 – July 8th

It’s the 4th of July but all festivities have been cancelled due to rain. Will, Gabi, Chad, Abigail, Kinsey and Melanie sit around the Brady Pub trying to decide which 2010 Oscar-nominated movie to watch. Melanie imagines herself and Bo as key characters in True Grit. Abigail has a Black Swan-inspired fantasy starring Hope, Maggie and EJ. Chad is partial to The Social Network, picturing himself, Will, Abigail, Kinsey, Justin and Theo, among others. Gabi offers up The King’s Speech, envisioning EJ, Roman and Nicole. And, finally, Kinsey votes for The Fighter with Adrienne, Brady, Nicole, Maxine, Ciara, Hope, etc.

Bo and Hope enlist Rafe in a plan to further rattle EJ and Stefano. Bo and Hope take out the DiMera guards and gain their walkie-talkie frequency, for later use. At the same time, Rafe surprises Mary by bringing Johnny home from school. No sooner do they congratulate themselves on their plan, however, when Bo gets a call. They have a problem.  Lexie urges Stefano not to stop EJ from proposing to Taylor. Stefano sees Taylor accept his son’s proposal and asks to speak privately to EJ. He tells EJ that Rafe2 has gone rogue. Stefano will do everything in his power to take care of the situation so EJ can have his happily ever after. EJ learns from Mary that Rafe brought Johnny home from school. Stefano says “Rafe” needs to be killed — just as Taylor returns and overhears. Jennifer confronts Carly about her addiction to prescription drugs. Carly insists she’s not an addict and promises she’ll stop using. Jennifer isn’t convinced and privately realizes she needs to end things with Daniel so Carly will not be hurt further. She later turns down an invitation from Daniel to go away for the weekend. Daniel is perplexed. Meanwhile, a rattled Carly imagines Lawrence telling her she’ll never be able to quit drugs. At the same time, Vivian confesses to Quinn that she came back to Salem to avenge herself on Carly. Quinn wants to help and promises they’ll find Carly’s weakness and bring her down. Melanie and Abigail confess that deep down they wish their respective parents would reunite, but the bottom line is they just want them to be happy.

EJ and Stefano convince Taylor they’re not planning to kill Rafe. Alone with Stefano, however, EJ rages about everything Rafe2 has done. EJ leaves to try to figure out where Rafe2 is laying low. Stefano pays Sami a visit, and when he gets nothing from her, he pumps Will and Gabi for info. He later learns from his minions that Rafe2 isn’t working alone. Meanwhile, Sami tells Rafe she’s worried Stefano will kill him. Rafe promises this will be over soon, but Sami wants to pull the plug on the whole operation. Bo and Hope say they can’t go back and instead have to move up the plan for Rafe to get a confession from EJ and Stefano. Bo is forced to free Nicole from police custody. He puts the fear of God into her, however, warning her not to tell Taylor or anyone else about her suspicions that EJ and Stefano kidnapped and brainwashed Rafe. Brady takes Nicole to the Cheatin’ Heart for drinks, but leaves her there. Brady learns Taylor is engaged to EJ and warns her that will not end well. Later, Brady has a tense encounter with EJ, which causes EJ to have flashes of his beating. Taylor and Nicole run into each other. Nicole sees her sister’s engagement ring. She regroups, then tells Taylor that EJ is all hers, but don’t expect to live happily ever after. Alone, Taylor pushes her sister’s words out of her mind, convinced she and EJ will be happy. Meanwhile, Nicole sees Rafe going somewhere and, in her tipsy state, decides to follow the man she thinks murdered her mother.

Earlier, Taylor shares a night of romance with EJ and then bonds with Johnny. Stefano sucks it up and congratulates Taylor on the engagement but hopes she’s prepared for what she’s getting into. Meanwhile, Sami learns that Taylor and EJ are engaged. Sami’s job is to keep Taylor away from the mansion. She doesn’t realize Taylor is already there. Sami loses patience and tells Bo and Hope that she’s coming to the mansion to back them up. Sami, Bo and Hope prepare for the endgame with the DiMeras. Rafe tries one last time to elicit a confession from the imposter. Rafe is unaware that Nicole has followed him to the warehouse. Rafe2, more afraid of the DiMeras than of the law, remains mum. After Rafe leaves, Nicole slips into the room and realizes that there are, in fact, two Rafes. The imposter persuades her that he’s the real Rafe and gets Nicole to let him go. Drunk as a skunk, she passes out, as Rafe2 sprints forth to set the DiMeras straight. Meanwhile, Rafe enters the mansion, determined to bring the DiMeras down. His deception is blown when the imposter bursts into the room, and EJ and Stefano realize the real Rafe is alive. Kate badgers Quinn about Chloe’s unsatisfactory job performance. Quinn promises better results next time. Meanwhile, Chloe learns from Justin that she needs to provide a stable income and home for Parker in order to move on to the next phase of her quest for custody. Resolved, Chloe vows to do whatever it takes. Quinn calls her on her lies and gives her one more chance, which she gratefully accepts, but on her terms. Later, she finally bites the bullet and goes to bed with a client. Kate is very pleased.

Rafe, Stefano and EJ face off when the imposter arrives. Things are only more complicated when Taylor sees the two Rafes and demands to know what’s going on. EJ tries to cover, but starts to lose his composure when Sami shows up and blasts him, claiming they’ve got him dead to rights. Bo and Hope manage to keep the imposter from fleeing. Sami, with Rafe’s help, wipes the floor with EJ, who at Stefano’s insistence, doesn’t admit to anything. Sami insists to Taylor that she’s telling the truth. EJ finds himself on shaky ground when Taylor asks him directly if he is responsible for Rafe’s imprisonment and bringing the imposter to town.

Brady finds Melanie and tells her that he’s had an epiphany about the two of them. It looks like he might get around to saying he wants to take their relationship to the next level when he receives a distress call from Nicole. Brady goes and Dario – who has partially overheard – seizes the moment and confesses his feelings for Melanie. They talk about her situation with Brady. Melanie says it’s complicated because she sort of has eyes for… Dario. Brady finds drunk Nicole at the warehouse. She babbles on about two Rafes and letting one “Rafe” go, but Brady thinks it’s just the liquor talking. He takes her back to her hotel where he – once again – makes it clear that their ship has sailed. He goes back to find Melanie and realizes his ship with her may never leave port – thanks to Dario. Jennifer confides in Abigail about Carly’s addiction and that she thinks part of Carly’s problem is that she’s in love with Daniel. Abigail thinks her mom is crazy to sideline her relationship with Daniel for her friend. Jennifer is afraid if she doesn’t, Carly will fall even further.  Carly offers to help Daniel find out why Jennifer has turned a cold shoulder to him. Carly talks to Jennifer, who lies that she just isn’t ready for a relationship. Daniel shows up and vows not to let her go. Carly witnesses this and takes off. Vivian goes to Quinn and they realize now is the time to strike against Carly. Quinn tells his man, Phelps, to find out all he can about Carly Manning. Carly runs into Phelps, who is dealing drugs, and he realizes she has a drug addiction.
