A devastated Carly urges her not to tell Daniel the truth, but Melanie says she’s not going to be a liar like her mother. Meanwhile, Chloe calls Philip and tells him Melanie knows she cheated. He covers in front of Daniel and rushes to Chloe, who emotionally explains all. She promises she’ll never reveal that he was the other man. Philip says he’ll convince Melanie not to tell Daniel.  Daniel threatens to un-invite Victor to his wedding if he won’t support his marriage to Chloe. Victor can’t help feeling that Chloe is no Rebecca. Daniel still respects his love for his late wife, but he professes his profound love for Chloe. Victor gives Daniel a wedding present that’s been in the Kiriakis family for generations and wishes him and Chloe many years of happiness.  After congratulating Daniel on his impending wedding to Chloe, Bo and Carly discuss how happy they are together. She can’t believe how much her life has changed from a year ago. Carly leaves and Abe meets up with Bo. Bo confides that Hope still won’t allow him to visit her in prison. They discuss how much better Ciara is adjusting. Abe then gets a call from their children’s school. A kid was bullying Ciara, and Theo got in trouble for defending her. Bo learns from Ciara that she was bullied because of her mom. Hope helps the new young inmate April through an appendicitis attack. She then learns that April has no family. When April goes into surgery, Hope is taken away to see a visitor. Lee, the trustee, is pleased to know Hope will be gone for a bit. Hope is stunned to learn her visitor is Bo.

Rafe learns from Ben that EJ’s health can now withstand the truth. Sami happily tells EJ that they’re not really married. EJ reacts, in “shock,” and Roman tells him he will now face charges for kidnapping Sydney. EJ is determined to prove that either Sami or Will shot him. Rafe takes Sami home and tells her he’s quit the FBI. Now she can tell him anything, and he won’t have a conflict of interest. Sami finally confesses the truth. She shot EJ. Melanie is unconvinced by Carly’s pleas to keep the truth about Chloe’s affair from Daniel. Philip seeks out Melanie and makes a similar case, which also falls on deaf ears. Meanwhile, Daniel shows up at his apartment, looking for Melanie. Nicole tries to cover her absence by saying that Chloe and Melanie had a fight. She claims Chloe innocently made an insensitive remark about Melanie, which Melanie overheard. After Daniel leaves, Philip shows up and breaks the news that he failed – Melanie is still determined to tell Daniel the truth. At the same time, Melanie and Daniel finally come face-to-face. Bo has come to see Hope in prison, and asks for her help in co-parenting a troubled Ciara. He talks over the bully situation with Hope, who demonstrates she’s still the loving mother she’s always been. Hope sends him home with advice for Ciara. Later, Bo meets back up with Carly, who doesn’t tell him about Melanie. Meanwhile, Hope is shocked to learn from Lee that April died in surgery.

Sami has finally told Rafe the truth – she shot EJ. At first, Rafe doesn’t believe her, but then she offers proof. He pledges his love and loyalty to her only to be called away to finish resigning from the FBI. Later, Sami tells Will that Rafe knows all. Arianna, who is searching for Rafe, overhears Sami admitting she shot EJ. While Chloe, Philip, Carly and Nicole all wonder if the wedding will happen, Melanie tells Daniel he cannot get married and he seems to understand. Daniel explains he heard what Chloe said about Melanie not being his “real” child. Melanie eventually realizes Chloe has covered up the truth with another lie. Daniel explains his love for Chloe to Melanie as she prepares to break his heart with the truth. Before she can, however, Daniel is called away. Melanie becomes conflicted, and after a run-in with a bitter Brady, she knows what she must do. In the park and moments away from the wedding, Chloe and Carly in a strange way bond as they prepare to face the music. Maggie and Victor arrive, and patiently wait. Chloe, seeing that Melanie has done nothing, pushes an upset Daniel to start the wedding. As the ceremony begins, Melanie arrives and stops the wedding, confronting Chloe in front of all. Brady and Nicole discuss Vivian’s entombment, and their new living situation. As they come together for a kiss, shocked Arianna witnesses it. Arianna accuses Nicole of changing Brady for the worse. Nicole claims she’s just jealous. Meanwhile, Vivian has contacted Gus through a receiver she placed in his bag. She pleads with him, but he refuses to help her. She’s crazy. Vivian continues to beg, and tells him what happened to her. Brady checks on her and wonders who she’s talking to. He nearly discovers all, but Vivian covers. Affected by Vivian’s words, Gus finally decides to help her.

Rafe has quit the FBI in order to protect Sami. Will is blown away by this. He is moved by the lengths Rafe would go for his mother. Rafe admits he’s not thrilled, but seeing that there is no proof Sami did anything and the fact that EJ is making a full recovery, he kind of thinks EJ got what he deserved. He tells them they must all make a pact – no one can ever know what Sami did. Sami tells Rafe she feels terrible about what she’s putting him through. Rafe says he’d die protecting her. EJ is being discharged from the hospital when he’s hit with a court order forbidding him from seeing his kids. Neither Stefano nor Lexie can believe Sami would act so soon. EJ realizes not only is he going to lose his children, but he’s also losing Sami. Stefano sets his head straight and vows to fight, and EJ finally comes around. He goes home and has some memories of Sami, but despite his feelings for her, he wants his kids back at any cost. Arianna is deeply upset after overhearing Sami and Will talk about how she shot EJ. She realizes she must tell EJ. She goes to the hospital, but learns he’s been discharged. Later, she goes to the DiMera mansion, ready to spill all. Stephanie worries the truth about the paternity switch will be revealed now that Melanie knows Chloe had an affair. Kayla tells Stephanie to relax. Maybe the results were changed, maybe it was a glitch. Either way, it’s out of her hands. Chloe and Melanie have a show down at the wedding. To Chloe, Philip, Nicole and Carly’s relief, Melanie decides not to spill al, but she puts Chloe on warning. Daniel asks what’s going on, but both women cover. Melanie refuses to talk to Carly. After Daniel and Chloe are married, they go home to pack for their honeymoon. Daniel admits he’s not thrilled with what went down between her and Melanie, which, unbeknownst to him, was a lie. Later, Melanie arrives and Daniel admits he was worried about her, and tells her he’ll have a talk with Chloe. Daniel and Chloe leave on their honeymoon. Alone with Philip, Melanie says sometimes you have to lie for love. Victor is still twigged by Nicole and Brady’s behavior. Maggie tells him maybe now is the time to step in, and Victor intends to do so.

Arianna is about to tell EJ that Sami shot him when Kate interrupts. Kate is wary of what Arianna is up to, afraid somehow either she or Will will be implicated. EJ chews out an employee over the phone, and Arianna is given pause due to his temper. She doesn’t want to endanger his health. When EJ gets dizzy, Arianna leaves to go meet Gabi, but assures him she’ll be back. After talking to Gabi about their brother, Arianna comes to a decision. Meanwhile, EJ and Kate have a chat about where her loyalties lie. Rafe tries to reassure Sami that she’s home free. Sami remains worried and expresses concern about both Arianna and Kate. She is grateful, however, for Rafe’s protection.   Melanie explains to Philip her rationale for keeping Chloe’s secret. Carly arrives and hears the rest of the explanation. Melanie can’t forgive Carly and they sadly part ways. Melanie is so grateful that Philip, unlike Carly, has no ulterior motives. Philip’s guilt becomes visible as he pulls Melanie into a kiss. Chloe and Daniel are on their honeymoon, but there’s a distance between them. Chloe fully owns her “mistake” about her comment about Melanie, and promises to do her best to make things right.
