Bo and Nora are thrilled when Matthew survives surgery, as are Destiny and Dani.  But their joy is short-lived when he suffers a life-altering complication. Nate suffers the torture of thinking he might have caused Matthew’s brain injury. Nate, unable to wait for news, goes to the hospital to find out if Matthew’s okay. Viki tries to reason with Tess who spits nails at her. After Viki leaves, the door to Tess’s padded cell opens and it’s Ford who’s arrived to spring Tess. Rex confronts Clint about his public confession and Clint flat lines. Joey’s shocked to learn all that Clint gave up to ensure Cutter committed Tess. When Joey finds Cutter at the mansion, he lets him have it. Cutter, after asking for Aubrey to come back to him, evicts her, Joey and Rama from what is now his new home. To Gigi’s surprise, Ford reaches out to Shane who responds positively to Ford’s advice.

Bo and Nora spiral into shock and denial after receiving the devastating news about Matthew. Nora in particular refuses to believe that her son is beyond hope and demands every measure be taken to save him. Matthew is taken for a nuclear profusion scan, a test that will prove his prognosis conclusively. Meanwhile, Nate is stunned to find out the extent of Matthew’s injuries. Nate can’t take the heat and excuses himself. Destiny falls apart after overhearing Matthew’s doctor writing off his patient. Bo and Nora are comforted by Rex and Viki.  Nora hangs onto her optimism until the doctor returns with more devastating news. Rick overhears Nate telling Deanna he’s sure he caused Matthew’s injuries. Viki and Rex bear witness as Clint’s heart gives out again. Viki is forced to tell Rex the truth that Clint is dying. Clint’s doctor takes drastic measures to save Clint’s life, installing a ventricular assist device. The silver lining is that Clint has shot to the top of the transplant list. Tess believes she is saved when Ford, dressed as an orderly, appears in her room at St. Ann’s. Ford first demands the information about Aubrey and Joey that may aid his pursuit of Ryder. Tess promises to tell Ford what he wants to know after he breaks her out. The two argue, neither trusting the other to follow through on their promise. Ford ultimately moves to walk out, prompting Tess to blurt out everything about Aubrey and Joey’s sham marriage. Ford attempts to make good on his promise but isn’t quick enough and the pair are discovered and Ford is thrown out. Cutter surprises Aubrey and Rama with the news that Clint signed over the house to him and now he wants them all out. Rama tries to improve her position with Cutter by claiming she advocated for him to Aubrey. Her case gets better when she and Aubrey trade punches. Cutter lets Rama stay, but Aubrey, Joey and Ryder must all go. Deanna encounters down-on-his-luck Rick at the Buenos Dias Café. Deanna isn’t much better off since last they met. Rick says there’s always a role for her at Treasure Island. Deanna declines his offer.

Tomas has spent the night watching Marty and passes the torch to Todd. Marty’s shocked to learn that Natalie’s still alive and refuses to believe it. When Todd leaves to get a newspaper to prove it, Marty vows to Liam that if Natalie isn’t dead, she will be soon. Unbeknownst to Marty, Natalie is at that very minute outside the pool house door. Tomas must cover with Blair. Natalie tells Brody she had a nightmare about her rooftop experience with Marty that makes her suspect the tape she had of Marty’s psychiatric session contains critical information. Meanwhile, Roxy finds the tape. John is affected when Roxy lets slip that Brody and Natalie shared a recent kiss. Joey tells Kelly he wants to be with her, but Kelly has no wish to be an afterthought. Ford finds Aubrey with his son and tells her he’s going to the judge with information about her relationship with Cutter and her fraudulent marriage to Joey. Aubrey warns that the judge still might not award custody to Ford. Ford is willing to take his chances, but knowing Ryder is what’s keeping her and Joey together, Aubrey offers another solution, allowing Ford generous visitation with his son. Ford takes Ryder off for the day, leaving Aubrey to explain to Joey. The man being held captive with Todd’s old face escapes. After vowing to kill Natalie, Marty discovers her right outside the door. She’s about to get rid of her once and for all when she hears Brody calling for her. She hides, and Brody swoops in to rescue Natalie. Marty goes with Todd, asking him to tell John that Liam isn’t Brody’s son, but is John’s. John gets a warrant to search Todd’s house. He and Brody arrive there and discover the house is empty. But John goes to the pool house where he finds Tomas holding Liam. Blair and Starr reveal to one another that neither had the night they thought they’d have last night. Blair’s relieved because she wants to get to know Tomas better. Starr realizes that with Marty’s psychotic break, Cole has no one and she feels guilty. Blair and Starr leave to visit him. Ford takes Ryder home. James is delighted to see his nephew again. He questions his brother and forces him to admit he’s falling for Tess. Bess points out to Tess her lack of options now that she’s in St. Ann’s. She forces Tess to admit she’s falling for Ford. Joey’s upset with Aubrey because she let Ford have the baby.
